Regulatory Initiatives

The Arkansas Hospital Association is actively involved in advocacy before the federal and state departments and agencies that conduct rulemaking.

Because many major policy decisions are made at the administrative level, regulatory advocacy is an increasingly important role for the AHA. Our Arkansas hospitals are among the most heavily regulated entities at both the federal and state level, which means our members need a strong voice representing them in the regulatory environment.

At the federal level, we regularly submit comments and information directly to CMS and other divisions of the Department of Health and Human Services, as well as to administrative agencies through the American Hospital Association and communication with Arkansas Congressional staffers.

At the state level, we maintain relationships with key individuals within various departments including the Arkansas Department of Health, the Arkansas Insurance Department, the Attorney General’s Office, the Arkansas Department of Human Services, and others.
