Our annual membership meeting is the culmination of each year's work. Health care professionals from throughout the state gather to advance their skills, network with fellow hospital leaders, and re-inspire their work. Since early 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed the way all industries do business, and hospitals have been pushed to innovate and respond in ways we never could have anticipated.
The AHA board of directors and the AHA executive team have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 surge throughout the state. Due to the extreme pressure the increase in COVID-19 cases is placing on our hospitals, AHA has made the difficult decision to cancel the Annual Meeting again this year. We feel it is essential, at this time, to keep our hospital leaders in their communities, serving patients and supporting hospital workers in their facilities.
This year, as always, we were looking forward to the Annual Meeting this year following last year’s cancellation. The Annual Meeting is our opportunity to gather as a community, learn from one another, and reinvigorate our mission; but we believe that canceling the event is the right thing to do during these difficult times. We will continue to do all we can to support our members in their work, as they continue to care for all Arkansans in the midst of this pandemic.
In lieu of the in-person meeting, AHA will once again hold giveaways, provide virtual education opportunities, and find ways to recognize hospitals’ efforts over the last 18 months.
