Arkansas Minority Health Commission to Host State of Minority Health Event April 18

The Arkansas Department of Health Minority Health Commission is slated to host its State of Minority Health convening from 9 a.m.to 3 p.m. on Friday, April 18, 2025.

 

Attendees can register for the event, which will have an in-person and live stream option.

 

This year's theme: “Seeds of Change in Minority Communities: Creating Collaborative Solutions to Nutrition Security” will include state and local leaders and will be presented at the Chenal Event Venue on 21 Rahling Circle in Little Rock.

 

Arkansas Center for Health Improvement Interim Executive Director Craig Wilson will moderate a fireside chat with Walter Harris, former CEO and President of Bentonville-based Heartland Whole Health Institute, and Dr. Ronald Rainey, vice president of the UA System Division of Agriculture, discussing definitions and policy efforts around food and nutrition security. Additionally, a panel featuring Potluck Food Rescue, Hunters Feeding the Hungry, and CareLink will discuss current approaches to food insecurity. Additional presentations will feature research and programs from UA Pine Bluff, St. James Baptist Church in Fayetteville, Malvern Elementary School, UA Cossatot – DeQueen, the Central Arkansas Sphinx Foundation, PickinGreens, and individuals with lived experience.
