Meet Boomer Esiason
Since 2002, Boomer Esiason has been a lead studio analyst on CBS Sports’ The NFL Today and has served as co-host of WFAN Radio’s weekday morning show for over 14 years. New York City’s top-rated Boomer and Gio (co-hosted Gregg Giannotti) is also simulcasted nationally on the CBS Sports Network.   

Upon retiring from the NFL following the 1997 season, Esiason headed straight to the broadcast booth making his debut as a commentator for ABC's Monday Night Football for two years. He called games for Westwood One Radio Sports’ Monday Night Football broadcasts for 19 seasons, teaming with Marv Albert and Kevin Harlan for eight years each. Esiason had been part of a Super Bowl-record 19 consecutive broadcasts (SB XXXIV in 2000 to SBII in 2018).  

Before gaining his stellar reputation on the air, the 14-year NFL veteran played for the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals. The four-time Pro Bowl quarterback was named the NFL’s Most Valuable Player Award 1988 and led the Cincinnati Bengals to Super Bowl XXIII (1989). Sporting News and Football Digest also named Esiason the NFL Player of the Year that same season.  

The University of Maryland product was selected by the Bengals in the second round of the 1984 NFL Draft and became one of the most successful quarterbacks in NFL history. He ranks in the Top-25 all-time in NFL passing yards with 37,920 (1st for left-handed quarterbacks), Top-30 in completions with 2,969 (1st for left-handed quarterbacks) and Top-25 all-time with 247 touchdown passes (1st for left-handed quarterbacks).    

In 1995, the NFL honored him with the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award for his excellence on the football field as well as his charitable work through his Foundation.
