The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) has reported two confirmed pediatric measles cases in unvaccinated Arkansas residents, one from Saline County and one from Faulkner County. Both individuals were exposed during out-of-state travel. These are the first measles cases in Arkansas since 2018, and ADH is establishing an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) to manage the response.
ADH urges individuals who were at the listed locations during the specified dates and times to ensure they are up to date on the MMR vaccine. Anyone developing measles symptoms (fever, cough, runny nose, conjunctivitis, and rash) after visiting these locations should immediately contact their health care provider by phone, informing them of potential measles exposure, and the provider should then contact ADH at 1-866-940-7568.
