Arkansas Department of Health Announces Changes to COVID-19 Reporting Requirements

On May 11, 2023, the federal public health emergency (PHE) expired, leading to significant changes in how surveillance for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is done nationwide and in Arkansas. As part of the PHE, clinical and laboratory partners were asked, and many required, to report all COVID-19 test results, including those that were negative. Now that the PHE has ended, negative COVID-19 test results no longer need to be reported to the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH). This is the only reporting change at this time. COVID-19 is still a nationally notifiable disease and is also reportable in Arkansas. As such, positive results should continue to be reported to the ADH.
